Plant cell protoplast fusion and regeneration of the fused product serves many possibilities in advanced breeding. Fytagoras’ research into protoplast fusion and regeneration is supported by our intern Adam Frafri under supervision of Marco Vennik. The photograph shows a fluorescently labelled tomato protoplast and a non-labelled tomato protoplast in the process of fusion. Methods for tracking and sorting fusion products are developed and tested.
